I know I’ve been slacking on the blog lately, I’m sorry!
I can’t say I don’t have time because I have nothing BUT time, however it seems like I’m always either too sick to write or I’m feeling ok and want to get out of the house and do something!
This has pretty much been my schedule since starting chemo: I get treatment, feel awful for the following 5-6 days, start to feel like a normal human again by the second week, and then try to do something fun before the cycle starts all over. I always need to have something planned to look forward to. It’s what gets me through these treatments!
This week I had a friend visit from out of town. We went to NYC for a couple days and then we checked out Woodstock. It’s been a pretty eventful week for me!
I also got a new wig this week. I have a dark brown, short wig that most have you have probably seen by now and a new blonde one to add to the collection. My new wig was 100% free through the American Cancer Society’s and Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program. To get a wig for yourself or a family member undergoing chemo, all you have to do is call 1-800-227-2345 and they will help you set up an appointment at a location near you.
By the way, thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to grow and donate their hair. I truly saw first hand how big of an impact it makes. I got a great question from someone about the process:
There are plenty of programs out there but the one that I used and know is legitimate is through Pantene and all of the directions can be found by clicking below:
https://pantene.com/en-us/brandexperience/make-the-cut#abc
So which wig did I end up picking? To me it was an easy decision! Watch below:
Thanks Crystal for articulating the bald dilemas and choices so well. I think I’ll miss my bedtime hat once my hair starts growing back!

You are beautiful no matter what hair (or lack of hair) you have! Thanks for sharing about the program. I passed it along to my friend who has finished chemo and is now in radiation for breast cancer. Also, I thought of you when I saw the pink firefighter truck at a fire scene last week.

Crystal,
You look fabulous!! Even more, you seem happy and confident and THAT is most important.
I love both wigs. The dark one so cool 😎. It’s definitely a new look and you rock it!! The blond one gives you that sassy look. Oh, I agree the bangs looks good on you.
You asked about the written or video blog preference. I think I speak for most of us when I say it’s great to see and hear you! I would catch on weekend mornings and miss seeing and hearing you. However, you do what you feel is best. I’m sure there are or will be times you won’t want to do the video thing and that’s okay!!
It is awesome that you are getting out and staying active. Such a GREAT attitude. After this ordeal is over you may want to think about getting into motivational speaking!!
Looking forward to seeing you back at 13! Also, a big shout out to your family and friends for rallying around you and giving you support.
All the Best and God Bless!!

Crystal you’re gorgeous in either one.
BUT truth be told, you are the first woman with her head shaved I’ve actually found to be equally attractive with or without hair. Stay true, stay positive, STAY YOU ❤

Crystal, I love your wigs! You make them both look beautiful! Thank you for sharing all of the info. I, too, would like to know the “safe” and “genuine” places to donate hair because I used to try to find those places to do so. Everyone always said it was easy and free, but it took me years to even have someone say it was in Greenville, SC (I’m in Asheville, NC) and cost $45. With gas that runs $80-100. I wish I could, but I am on a limited income. If you could find out where there are real places closer, maybe I could save on the fee… and grow my hair out again. I usually do every winter. God loves you, Crystal!!
