The days  leading up to my last chemo session were tough for me. I should’ve been thrilled that I’d be walking into my chemo room for the very last time. I should’ve been so relieved. I should’ve felt on top of the world. At least that’s what everyone kept telling me.

I actually think the last treatment was one of the hardest ones. I tried to be happy about it, but honestly who’s ever happy about going to chemo? On top of that, I know that I still have to wait for my PET scan results before I can officially say I’m done. That final scan has been on my mind a lot lately and I’ve been so nervous/stressed about it. I’ve had nightmares that the results didn’t come back clean and it’s terrifying to even think about. Today, for the very first time, I woke up with a strong feeling that I’ll be ok, but last week  I felt a lot less confident.

So what’s next?

My PET scan will be on Dec. 20th and WHEN (not if) all goes well, I’ll have a follow-up visit with my oncologist after that. I’m also hoping to get my port removed before I head back to Virginia, but we can’t schedule that until we get the scan results back. I’m a little worried that the holidays will make it difficult to schedule, but I’m determined to start the new year off completely free from anything that has to do with cancer, including getting rid of this medi-port.

What about my blog?

A lot of people have asked if I plan to continue updating the blog and the answer is YES! There are so many things that I want to write about still that I just didn’t have the energy for over the past 6-7 months. I also get asked a lot of the same questions on a regular basis so I want to address some of those publicly as well. For example, what’s an appropriate gift to get someone who has cancer, or what should I expect for my first chemo visit, or how do I pick out a wig for the first time? I’ve said this from the beginning and it’s still true- I really want to do whatever I can to help other people who are going through a similar situation. If you have a question that you’d like me to write about or even answer privately, please leave a comment or send me a message and I will do my best to help!

For now, I’m just focussed on my upcoming scan. I will update everyone with the results as soon as I know them. Any positive thoughts or prayers you can send my way are very appreciated!

  3. I’m glad you’re done with chemo and I’m hoping for excellent results on your scans. I have learned a lot about cancer treatment from your writings and appreciate the knowledge. We miss you on the news in Cheyenne.

  12. I am so hoping that all goes well with your PET scan. I would be hanging from the ceiling!! The past is the past, the future is not ours to see, live in today, one day at a time. You have been a real trooper and fighter through of all of this. Know that your family, friends, and tv admirers are all very proud of you. We all support you in whatever happens.

    I want to tell you just how strong you are and how much I wish you all the best and that you get positive test results back. You writing this blog and sharing what you are going through has been nothing but awesome. I believe it would/has helped so many who are about to start the same journey you have gone through or those who are in the process of healing. It is so great to see a young person who is so willing to share and help others. God bless you and I hope to see you back reporting the weather and doing special reports soon. You have been missed.

  33. Crystal, There is so much power in positive thinking. Do not let your monkey mind take over. You have literally thousands of people following you and praying for you!!!! I will be praying for that test on Thursday to come back clear and for you to find peace somehow between now and then. Clear out all negative thoughts and replace them with thoughts of everything you are ready to do again and Christmas!!!! We will all be happy to see you on the air again.

Not because of me (maybe a little lol) or that maybe I was hoping to be one of the first 150 folks in line to wish you a Merry Christmas, but because look where and how you felt a year ago. You fought and won a dam (sorry) great battle and your fan Robert is so happy and proud of you! I’m a blessed and proud Rectal Cancer Survivor so like others I get.I’m sorry I didn’t write before now but i was very close to it many times but after watching you and your Mom dance that was almost the kicker!!     1. Lol no problem! The pictures are from the bags that I payed for myself. After setting up my donation page, I added a few more things to each bag so I should probably update my page soon with the new bags. I will do that soon! 🙂
