Ignite running team

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED– STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ON OUR NEXT RUNNING TEAM STARTING THIS WINTER!

This is a ten week 5k coaching program designed specifically for beginners and novice runners, or for those who have had a lengthy amount of time off from running. Read the FAQs here!

We’ll be training for the Norfolk Harbor 5K race that occurs on Saturday November 23rd.

If you can walk for 30 minutes without needing a break, I’m confident that you can run a 5k. The only requirement is that you need to want to! Bring your enthusiasm and I’ll do the rest!

This is a team effort! Not only will you have two coaches working with you and helping you along the way, you’ll be doing it with other like-minded people who have the same goals as you.

We’ll meet twice a week for group training sessions where you’ll receive guidance and unconditional motivation through every workout! The program consists of three runs a week so you’ll be assigned one run per week to complete on your own.

Training will start on Tuesday September 17th. We’ll meet up every Tuesday and Saturday until race day on November 23rd.

Tuesday nights at 6:30 PM with a rotating weekly location through southside Hampton Roads (think mainly Norfolk and Virginia Beach, whatever is most convenient for the group)

Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM at Cape Henry Trail (meeting at Hot Tuna parking lot)

It’s crucial that you make it to these sessions! Life happens and we understand that it may not be possible to attend all of them, but your success in this program will depend on how committed you are to the plan we provide.

-10 week training plan

-Launch party and halfway to goal party

-Educational clinics led by running professionals

-Private FaceBook group for motivation, accountability, and updates for the team

-Team T-shirts

Registration is $100 per person. That’s only $10 per week! (Excludes race entry fee)

To be completely honest, running was never something I was inherently good at. In fact, I never even cared about running until after I beat cancer and a good friend (who ended up being my future run coach) encouraged me to do a half marathon. It was NEVER something I even wanted to do, but after he made me feel like I could do it, I decided to at least try.

Everything I had been through with cancer made crossing that finish line feel so amazing. I can’t even describe the feeling other than saying it was one of the proudest moments of my life.

It meant so much to me because I accomplished this so soon after beating cancer, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that every single person in that race was facing their own battle. Everyone has a unique journey that leads them to the starting line of a race and it’s a really special thing. It also made me realize that there are are so many people out there who never make it to the starting line simply because they don’t think they can do it. I get it because I was the same way, but I’m here to change that.

I know that it’s possible to accomplish your goals despite any obstacles that life throws your way and now I want to show you that it’s possible.

I believe that as long as you want to run a 5k, you can do it. If you’re excited about tackling a goal like this, I want to help you get to the finish line and I truly believe you can do it!
