How to pick the perfect wig during chemo

“I just found out I have cancer and my oncologist told me my hair will fall out. How do I pick out a wig?!”

I think almost all women ask this question when they start chemo. I know I did and I went through quite a bit of trial and error before finding the perfect wig. I’ve been asked about wigs more times than I can count so I decided to share some of the tips I’ve learned over the past few months:

I wish someone had told me these things early on in my wig-hunting days so if you know someone going through chemo, please feel free to share this with them!

The wig I’m wearing in the video is the Jenny Synthetic Mono Wig from the LaVivid Collection through Uniwigs

FullSizeRender-1

I’ve been in contact with the company and they offered to give 10% off of their wigs to any other cancer patients who may be in need of one. Use coupon code Crys10 for the discount.

Please note: I’m NOT getting paid for this post or for any sales made with the coupon code, but they did send me the wig for free and asked for my honest review. Read below for more details.

About the Jenny Synthetic wig: The synthetic hair feels very natural and soft, but it also has a lot more body and volume than real hair usually does. I love how bouncy the hair is and I get compliments on my hair every time I wear this wig. The lace front allows you to part your hair any way you want to while keeping the natural hairline look. The lace makes it look like each strand of hair is actually coming out of you head. This is something I always look for when picking out a wig. I think either a lace front wig or a wig with bangs is necessary to help the wig look real. The color of the hair is a bit darker than my hair normal is, but the highlights help to lighten it up a bit. The wig came packaged very nicely and the box included a brush specifically for the wig. I’ve learned that there are specific brushes you should use on wigs so it’s nice that one was included in the package. Overall, the Jenny synthetic wig is a very nice, quality wig!

  1. Oh Dear Crystal,

After going through a lot of your blogs, I said Lord I don’t want Your message to Crystal to get lost or missed among the many, so where do I write it. Then He said, go to her latest one and give her these words, just to remind her just how special she is to Me..

As I read a little of your story, the Lord led me to the Book of Revelation chapter 21 verses nine through eleven..

“Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy[h] Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal”

There are only a few places in the bible where the word, or name in your case, is recorded, Crystal…

In this passage, the writer is describing the great city, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. This place is described with such vivid imagery, having the glory of God, and her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as Crystal.

This is where the Lord caused me to pause, and He spoke to me saying to let you know, that He’s instilled greatness in you and filled you with His Spirit and strength. You are created in His image and according to His likeness, and it radiates across the airwaves. You are indeed precious in His sight, more valuable than any precious stone. Clearly, God has a purpose assigned to your life, Crystal. And yes, your journey has been a tough one, but continue to rest in God’s strength, the strength that He’s placed inside of you!

God’s Peace & Blessings unto you!

  2. Reblogged this on gaillovesgod and commented:
Crystal did a blog to answer the many questions others were asking her advice for on wigs. I have many family and friends who went through the same hardships, even having to draw eyelashes on their eyes. I know this means a lot, so I wanted to share her words of wisdom. Praying it is a blessing to someone.
Crystal is pretty brave to discuss such a personal matter of her own.
The Lord bless you, Crystal! He loves you! And so do we! ❤
