I’m bald!

Here it is… my never before seen scalp!

Seriously, nobody has ever seen it before, not even when I was a baby! I was born with a full head of hair and have had long hair most of my life so I’m ready for the drastic change. I’m just hoping I don’t have a funny shaped head!

I pieced together a video from my head shaving “party” with my family and yes, I finally show off my bald head in the vid:

    4. Crystal – You are gorgeous with and without hair! I went through chemo four years ago, unfortunately bald me looked more like Uncle Fester (of the Addams Family, are you too young?), than an attractive woman. Losing my hair was devastating, didn’t think I was that vain, but it truly hit me hard. Just know that too will pass. Here’s something I couldn’t get an answer to, when will my hair start growing? This was my experience, everyone is different, and certainly treatment has soooo many variations, but my hair came back 10 weeks after my last chemo treatment. I’m now cancer free and have a full head of hair. Honey, we’re pulling for you in Virginia Beach, anticipating your return to our mornings!!

  12. I know it’s a mental & psychological adjustment for you, and I know how you ladies are about your hair, but it’s all about doing what you have to do. The biggest and most important thing you have going for you is that you have a support group that will love you no matter how you look and they will be with you till the end. You are blessed. Just to throw a little humor into your fight, as the old hotel commercial used to say…”We’ll keep the light on for you”.

  16. You are so strong! Your hair was beautiful. Not going to minimize the loss if it. But, what makes a person beautiful is their attitude. You have the best attitude possible! OK, the eyes and the smile help. 😀 If there we’re a #CrystalStrong T-shirt sale, I’d buy one and wear it. Keep up the fight!

  20. Crystal,
First, the friends who sent the shirt are correct. No one, including you, fights alone. Along with your family, we are here with you, too.
Second, I love how you made this a family affair. It’s very apparent your family is a loving family.
Third, it’s already been said; With or without hair you’re beautiful…. both inside and out.
Finally, I spent my entire career in the clinical setting. Most of it was in the laboratory. I have seen so many people go through some very difficult things. Everyone handles those situations differently, some good some not so good. I want to say in all those years, YOU are truly and strong and inspirational individual. Your courage, openness and willing to share attitude is like none I’ve seen throughout my experiences.
Thank you for allowing us to share your journey! Stay “Crystal Strong,” and know that you are in my, and all of our, prayers. Again, kudos to the family for all their support.
Lots of Love from Virginia Beach!!❤️❤️

  23. I can tell this wasn’t easy for you but you “soldered” on! Bravery isn’t the lack of fear; it is not letting fear stop you. Great to see all the support fill the entire backyard! A little tip; go get you some self tanner lotion for that scalp. Mine was so pale it was blue. I use it after I shave my head; I like “Malibu Tan: Hemp Golden glow” I can only find it at Wal Mart. I look forward to your next blog. “Hair is over rated”
